These versatile homemade seed crackers are a delightful and healthy snack option. I love eating these crispy treats for breakfast paired with kaymak (similar to cream cheese or Philadelphia) and smoked salmon. They also make a popular and nutritious addition to school lunchboxes that kids actually enjoy.

Instructions for Making Homemade Seed Crackers

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F). Mix the flax seeds, chia seeds, and water in a bowl to get started. Let this mixture sit for about 5 minutes, or until it thickens into a gel-like consistency. Add the remaining dry ingredients (hemp, spelt or oat flour, sunflower, pumpkin, and black sesame seeds) along with the salt. Stir everything together until the mixture is uniform. Line a baking tray with parchment paper. You can lightly grease it with olive oil if you prefer, though I usually find that good parchment paper prevents sticking without the extra oil. Spread the mixture evenly across the tray in a thin, consistent layer. For an extra crispy finish, you can optionally brush the top with a little olive oil. Bake for about 35-40 minutes until the sheet is evenly golden. It is fine if the edges are slightly darker, but keep an eye on them to ensure they don’t burn. Allow the crackers to cool completely and harden on the tray before breaking them apart into satisfying pieces.
