The Challenge

Sage Space Technologies LLC, a US-based company, was launching the ATOM Stroboscopic Light - a precision light therapy device. They needed high-quality product photography for their website launch, including 360-degree interactive views that would let customers inspect the device from every angle.

The challenge went beyond photography:

  • The client was based in the US and UK, requiring international sample shipping to our Sofia studio
  • The product needed to clear Bulgarian customs - and commercial sample import processes are notoriously complex
  • The first sample arrived damaged - scratches on the device and dents on the box
  • The client had an aggressive launch timeline - they needed images to go live quickly

This project also needed logistics, customs coordination, and quality control.

Our Approach: Phased Delivery

When we received the first sample and discovered the damage, we immediately documented everything - scratches on the product surface and damage to the retail box - as standard procedure. Rather than waiting for a replacement and losing weeks, we proposed a two-phase plan:

Phase 1: Immediate Catalog Shots Deliver critical product images using the first sample (avoiding damaged areas) so the client could get the product live on their website quickly.

Phase 2: Final Assets Once a pristine replacement arrived directly from the manufacturer, we’d shoot the packaging, complete retail box, and full 360-degree rotational views.

The client approved immediately. This phased approach meant they didn’t lose launch momentum waiting for a perfect sample.

What We Created

Product Catalog: Every Angle

ATOM device - three-quarter angle showing form factor and ventilation

ATOM Stroboscopic Light - angled view showing the hexagonal housing and control panel

ATOM LED array - flat top-down technical detail

ATOM with cable connected - practical product detail

Each final image is a composite of multiple shots - our standard technique for technical products. This ensures every surface, every LED, every label is perfectly sharp regardless of the depth of field challenges that hexagonal form factors present.

Packaging & Retail Box

ATOM retail packaging - premium holographic box design

ATOM box - alternate view showing product information

Carrying Case

ATOM carrying case - closed, showing portable design

ATOM case open - device secured in custom foam with accessories

The open case shot is critical for e-commerce: customers want to see exactly what they’ll receive. The foam insert, the accessory placement, the neat organization - all communicate quality and care.

Beyond Photography: Logistics Partnership

The photography mattered, but the practical support around it mattered just as much:

  • Customs Navigation: We actively assisted the client with Bulgarian customs clearance for the commercial sample. We redirected customs communication and provided necessary contact details to help declare the product correctly.
  • Damage Documentation: Standard procedure: photograph damage on arrival, notify client, propose solutions. This transparency built trust and led directly to the successful phased plan.
  • Extended Storage: The client was traveling internationally and couldn’t coordinate return shipping. We offered to store the lights in our studio for months and ship to a local Bulgarian address when they returned - eliminating complex international return logistics.
  • 360-Degree Production: The rotational view required capturing many individual frames at precise intervals, then compositing into an interactive viewer. We delivered this alongside standard catalog shots.

The Result

The client’s feedback: the first batch of photos “look amazing, thank you” and the 360-degree photo was “brilliant, thanks Sergey!”

Delivered:

  • 12 catalog images covering the device from every angle - top, sides, three-quarter, with accessories
  • Retail packaging documentation - box from multiple angles for e-commerce and wholesale
  • Carrying case photography - closed and open for product page
  • 360-degree rotational view - interactive viewer for the product page
  • Logistics support - customs help, storage, flexible shipping

For a US-based tech company launching internationally, having a production partner who handles not just photography but also customs, quality assurance, and logistics helped keep the launch on schedule.

The ATOM is live on their website. The images sell the product. It also showed that a Sofia studio can support an international launch without adding friction.
