Prep Time: 5 min / Cook Time: 15 min / Total Time: 20 min
Poached pears in wine is a classic French dessert that originated in the wine-growing territories of Burgundy and Lyon.
Sounds like something worth trying, right!? Moreover, it is only 10-15 minutes of active cooking.

Pears poached in wine is a classic French dessert that is distinguished by its exquisite presentation and extraordinary taste. Firm ripe pears are peeled and poached at a very low boil in a mixture of sweet white wine, sugar syrup, and spices until the rich flavor is absorbed and softened.
The liquid is then evaporated and turns into a light aromatic syrup.
Slowly poaching pears in a fragrant red wine sauce change this humble fruit into a sexy dessert.
Pears poached in wine
Yield: 5 pieces
Ingredients
Pears poached
-
5 strong pears
-
450 ml white wine (can be replaced with light grape juice)
-
150 gr sugar
-
zest of 1/2 orange
-
pinch of cinnamon, saffron, and anise (2 pieces)
Serving
-
2 tablespoons of honey
-
100 gr Greek Yogurt
-
2 tablespoons of pine nuts
Instructions
Mix spices, wine, and sugar in a saucepan. Boil. Peel the pears and place them in the syrup.
After the pears boil - reduce the heat to a minimum (so that the boil is slightly noticeable) and cook for 12-15 minutes (depending on the size of the pears) Turn off the heat and let cool to room temperature.
Then - there are several options for filing ...
You can evaporate the remaining liquid to a syrup state, take a spoonful of ice cream and serve pears in syrup with ice cream.
You can sprinkle it with honey and eat it just like a dessert. You can add crunch and ice cream...
But my favorite serving is to roast a handful of pine nuts in a dry frying pan, put thick yogurt next to the pears, pour fragrant honey over all this happiness, and decorate with pine nuts.
