Perepechki. No yeast fluffy buns for morning

Prep Time: 10 min / Cook Time: 10 min / Total Time: 20 min

These are simple rustic pies for breakfast or a quick snack for tea. My mom used to make these often. They didn’t even have time to cool down 🤣 Dad and I ate them hot (and it felt like straight from the pan).

Surely you know and remember their taste from childhood...

Perepechki. No yeast fluffy buns for morning

Yield: 1 portion

Ingredients

Easy donuts:

  • 200 ml warm kefir (sour milk or yogurt)

  • 1 egg

  • 2 tbsp sugar

  • 1/2 tsp baking powder

  • a pinch of salt

  • 2 tbsp butter (in dough)

  • 400 gr flour

  • vegetable oil for frying

  • powdered sugar for sprinkling

Instructions

Mix warm kefir with egg, salt, and sugar until smooth. Add butter (you can also take an oil). Sift flour with baking powder and mix until smooth (not too long).

Set your dough aside in room T for 10 minutes, and after 10 min - roll it into a layer about 1 cm wide or slightly less. Divide into rectangles and deep-fry. Serve with powdered sugar.

I advise you to cook a small portion - as in the recipe since the next day the donuts are no longer so tender and tasty. This is a simple quick breakfast or snack.

And one little secret - if your sugar does not stick to donuts at all - then it means, that the sugar crystals are too large. If you want to take a beautiful photo or you just want to have more sugar on your donuts - just "grid" the sugar in the chopper blender for a few seconds - to make sugar crystals smaller.

They are coated with a crumbly layer of finely chopped nuts or breadcrumbs, giving them a textured and slightly rough appearance. The candies look homemade, with an uneven, natural surface. Inside, you can see bits of ingredients that resemble a mix of nuts and dried fruits, creating a dense, slightly grainy texture. The colors of the candies are warm, with shades of golden, brown, and creamy tones, suggesting the use of natural ingredients like almonds and dried apricots.
